Edward Allen Morgan lived a life of adventure, service, family, and a lifelong love of the outdoors. He passed away on July 11, 2026, at the age of 96.

Ed was born on January 1, 1930, in Sapulpa, Oklahoma, to Walter and Edna Irene (Melton) Morgan. Growing up in Sapulpa and Tulsa, he developed a lifelong love of fishing, hunting, camping, and spending time outdoors. As a Boy Scout, he developed a deep appreciation for nature and dreamed of one day becoming a U.S. Forest Service Ranger.

At 17 years old, Ed enlisted in the United States Army, hoping to earn the GI Bill so he could attend college. He completed basic training at Fort Ord, California, before attending the Army Military Police School at Carlisle Barracks, Pennsylvania. He later served as a Military Police Corporal at Fort Devens, Massachusetts. While stationed near Boston, he attended Red Sox games at Fenway Park, where he watched Ted Williams play and became a lifelong Boston Red Sox fan.

Following his military service, Ed graduated from Bell Telephone's Lineman School in Okmulgee, Oklahoma, and worked as a lineman in Claremore. He then enrolled at the University of Tulsa, where he studied Wildlife Management. After one year, he transferred to Oklahoma A&M College (now Oklahoma State University) to pursue his lifelong interest in forestry.

During the summer following his year at Oklahoma A&M, Ed returned to California to work for the U.S. Forest Service, serving on wildfire crews in the Stanislaus and Six Rivers National Forests. He battled forest fires, lived in remote mountain camps, and worked among the giant redwoods.

In 1950, Ed married DeLois Lovelace and later divorced. Early in their marriage, they experienced the heartbreaking loss of two infant children, Linda and David. In time, they built their family through the adoption of their daughters, Cathey and Helen. Ed treasured birthdays, Christmas mornings, fishing trips, camping adventures, boating, vacations, and watching his daughters grow into young women.

In 1955, Ed began what would become a 32-year career with Douglas Aircraft Company, later McDonnell Douglas. Starting on the flight line supporting B-47 and B-66 bombers, he advanced through positions in scheduling and management. During his career, he worked on military aircraft programs, ballistic missile systems, the Apollo space program, satellite launch systems, and components for the Alaska Pipeline.

In November 1975, Ed married Mary Alexander. Together, they blended their families. Ed welcomed Mary's children-Debbie Mauldin, David Alexander, and Donna Alexander-while continuing to raise Helen. During the remainder of his career with McDonnell Douglas, he and Mary enjoyed traveling, camping, spending time in the mountains, and sharing many adventures with their friends and family. Reflecting on those years, Ed wrote, "We had a wonderful life together."

In 1987, Ed retired from McDonnell Douglas as Manager of Program and Cost Control, overseeing five departments. Following his retirement, he and Mary moved to Colorado, where Ed joined Stanley Aviation Corporation as Program Manager and later Director of Manufacturing. Also, while living in Colorado, Ed learned to ski and loved it so much he would sometimes say that he "would rather ski than eat."

In 1990, Ed and Mary returned to Tulsa to be closer to family. In the following years, they traveled to Canada, Mexico, Hawaii, to the four corners of the country, and to a lot of places in between. They also spent many enjoyable days at Grand Lake, where Ed enjoyed golfing, boating, and fishing. Family ski trips often took them back to Colorado, where Ed continued skiing with his brother-in-law, Keith, while Mary and her two sisters, Jeannie and Millie, enjoyed shopping and cooking. Ed especially enjoyed taking his grandchildren camping and fishing, sharing his love of the outdoors with them.

After Mary's passing in 2018, Ed continued to enjoy time with his family and friends. In his story, Ed shared that while adventure, travel, and his career had been important parts of his life, they were never as important as the time he spent with his family.

Ed was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary; his parents, Walter and Edna Irene Morgan; his first wife, DeLois Lovelace; his infant children, Linda and David; his brother, Dr. William Morgan; his stepdaughter, Debbie Mauldin, and her husband, Mike; and his grandson, Trevor Ramsey.

He is survived by his daughters, Cathey James and Helen Johnson; his stepdaughter, Donna Ramsey (Steve); his stepson, David Alexander (Denise); numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Viewing for Edward will be on Wednesday, July 15, 2026 from 5:00 PM till 8:00 PM at Moore's Southlawn.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 16, 2026 at 10:00 AM at Memorial Park Cemetery Chapel with Military Honors performed by the United States Army funeral honors team out of Fort Sill, Oklahoma.
