Edward F. Morris, M.D., 93, died peacefully at home on April 30, 2016. Ed was born on February 1, 1923, in New Carlisle, Ohio. Throughout his life he remained passionate about basketball, sailing, traveling and his family.
While at New Carlisle High School, he was a member of the 1940 boys' Ohio state champion basketball team. Ed graduated from Ohio Wesleyan University in 1945, where he was a member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity, and received his Medical degree from Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio in 1949.
He served as a Captain in the United States Air Force, stationed throughout the U.S. and England, eventually joining the medical staff as a radiologist at Barberton Citizens Hospital in Barberton, Ohio. Ed retired as the Radiology Department Chair and Chief of the medical staff. He was a Fellow of the American College of Radiology.
Following retirement in 1988, Ed and his wife, Eleanor, enjoyed sailing in the Bahamas and living in Brewster, Massachusetts. They joined Inverness Village in Tulsa, Okla., in 2006. Eleanor preceded him in death in 2014, after 67 years of marriage.
Ed is survived by his sister, Carolyn Conarroe, of Longmont, Colo.; and his children, John (Lucy) of St. Louis, Mo., Eric (Kim) of Homer, Ala., Kim (Hussein) of Akron, Ohio, Chris (Valerie) of Burlington, Vt., Edward (Carrie) of Tulsa, Okla.; as well as 13 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers or gifts, the family suggests that memorial donations be made to the donor's charity of choice.
