On February 2, 1957 he married the love of his life, Marilyn Westhoff and they recently celebrated their 69th anniversary. They raised a family of 5 sons and 2 daughters.
Ed was an active member of St. Pius X Catholic Church where he was a member of the choir, the 55+ Ministry, an usher, a lector, and, when St. Pius was putting on summer musicals, had a role in "Damn Yankees".
He was very proud of his Army service and was a member of American Legion Post 1.
He enjoyed driving his red retro Thunderbird convertible with a black hardtop and was a member of the Classic Thunderbird Club.
Sports played a large part in his life. Ed coached baseball for many years beginning with Little League when his sons were young and ending with 9 years as coach of Bishop Kelley's summer American Legion teams. He also coached Tulsa Minor Hockey teams for many years. He had a positive impact on the lives of many boys he coached. Ed officiated high school baseball and football. He was assigned by the NHL to officiate in the Central Hockey League where he worked 800 games and was proud that he never missed an assignment in15 years.
Ed's favorite saying was, "a stranger is just a friend you haven't met". He loved to talk to everyone and was happiest if he could leave them with a smile or a laugh.
In later years he enjoyed working in the yard, sitting on the deck feeding and watching the birds, and traveling with Marilyn. He also loved music of almost any genre.
He loved his family deeply and was always there for them when needed.
Ed was preceded in death by his parents and his beloved grandson, Michael Menger.
