Edwin Wayne Brown passed away peacefully from this life May 23, 2024. He was born June 2, 1938, in Alden, Alabama, to Fred and Idella Brown.
He was a lifelong learner and always quick witted. After graduating from Birmingham Southern College, education continued the rest of his life with the enjoyment of his many books. In addition to his love of books and learning, he had a passion for music and photography. You were likely to find him relaxing, listening to music while reading or going through photos he had taken. He served his country in the United States Army and liked sharing his experiences with others; especially, his time in Korea.
A new job took him to Houston. There, he met Nancy Harris. They were married in 1966. In 2000, he retired from Chase Bank after a long career as a database manager. One of his favorite activities after he retired was taking long walks outside and feeding the neighborhood stray cat and occasionally a brave squirrel. He also had two pet dogs and a cat that he dearly loved.
In 2020, he moved to Broken Arrow, Oklahoma to be closer to his daughter Amy.
He will be missed by those he left behind; wife Nancy, daughter Amy, and her husband, Brian; his sisters Geraldine Owens, Connie Clayton, his brother James, sister-in-law Melba, grandchildren Brandon and Jill McLain, Ashley Grigsby and Andrew Brown. Many nieces and nephews and friend Scott Barricklow. He is preceded in death by his son Mark, brothers Frank and Carlos Brown and sister-in-law Ann.
When tomorrow starts without me, don't think we're far apart, for every time you think of me, I'm right there in you heart.
Donations can be sent to Michael J. Fox Foundation.
Graveside service will be at Fort Gibson National Cemetery on June 28th at 11:00 A.M. with Tim Pyles officiating.
