Edwin Gene Hill, 86, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on June 17,2014. He was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma on August 4, 1927, to his parents, Arthur Miller Hill and Lois Rush Hill. After Edwin graduated from Will Rogers High School in Tulsa, in 1945, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy where he served at the close of World War II. After his naval service, he joined his family's business, Hillco, Inc., and later Grant Manufacturing Company.
Edwin was a committed Christian and gave generously throughout his life to numerous Christian ministries and other organizations. A devoted, generous, and caring husband and father, Edwin was married for 63 years to Virginia Daughtrey Hill.
Edwin was an avid and prolific photographer, whose favorite subjects were his family members. He enjoyed history, traveling, and gardening. He was a member of the Tulsa Figure Skating Club for many years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Aileen Hill Wintle, and his brother Don L. Hill. Edwin is survived by his wife, Virginia Daughtrey Hill of Tulsa, and daughter Virginia Shelton Hill of Hoboken, New Jersey, as well as several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 20, 2014, at Memorial Park Cemetery Chapel in Tulsa, under the direction of Moore Funeral Home.
