In 1993 he became a geological consultant to the oil and gas industry and iodine industry, only retiring and wrapping up his business enterprises just a short time ago.
He is preceded in death by his beloved wife of nearly 57 years, who passed in 2015. He is survived by his daughter, Linda Susan Crane, and his son, Steven Russ Jones, and six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He also counted son-in-law Scott Crane, and dear friend Jim Qualls as sons to him.
