Elena Mae Bussell, 91, passed away Saturday, February 15, 2020 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She was born August 11, 1928 in Seiling, Oklahoma to William Mitchell and Mary Martha (Steinmetz) Hoag.

Elena was a faithful member of First Baptist Church for many years with her husband, Dwight. They taught sixth grade Sunday School together for several years. Elena enjoyed sewing and was quite the seamstress. After retiring from St. John Hospital, she started making clothes for the Church Caring Center Clothing Room, up until a few years ago.

After Dwight passed away in 1999, she continued going to lunch at Rib Crib near her neighborhood every Saturday where she befriended a sweet lady named Bernice. Elena was famous for her beautiful hand-sewn Christmas wreathes. She started making them year-round after Dwight passed away. She loved giving them out to random people sitting near her at church on Sundays. She gave them to the cashiers at the local Neighborhood Wal-Mart and at Rib Crib. It just made her feel good to do it! She made her final two wreaths while at The Villages at Southern Hills. The "Witness of The Holly Wreath" poem was written by her and attached lovingly to each wreath she made. So, those of you who were privileged enough to receive one of these special hand-sewn wreaths over the years, wear it proudly at Christmas time because they are one of a kind...just like Elena Mae was!

Preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dwight; two brothers and a sister. Elena is survived by daughter, Renee Bussell; son, Tim (Michelle) Bussell; sisters, Florence Alkire, Clara Louthan; Brother, Dale Hoag; grandson, Travis Bussell; great grandson, Hunter Bussell
