Elizabeth "Betty" Shinn Coleman passed away on June 7th, 2026 peacefully surrounded by family and many dear friends who visited in her final hours. She had been a resident of Trinity Woods and was supported by so many caring people in that organization.

Betty was born in Burlington, Colorado, August 27, 1930, to Carl and Anne Shinn. She was married to Robert L. Coleman in 1952 and had two children, Louis Coleman (Sharon) of Tulsa and Mary Cassen Coleman Whitaker (Les) of Wills Point, TX . She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and daughter.

Betty was meant to be a grandmother and great-grandmother. She celebrated and loved her 4 grandchildren Lilianna Coleman Parker (Dan), Adrienne Coleman Driscoll (Eric), Coleman Whitaker (Brittany), and Robert Whitaker (Crystal), and ten great- grandchildren.

While there were so many aspects of Betty's life, she will be remembered most for the way she loved her family, cultivated lifelong friendships and brought people together. Her Christmas gatherings and famous "tornado" parties became cherished traditions for many. Opening her home to friends, family, neighbors, and strangers was simply who she was. Betty lived a full, joyful, and deeply meaningful life.

Betty's celebration of life will be held at College Hill Presbyterian Church (her church home for 74 years) 7th and Columbia, Tulsa, OK on June 27th at 2:00. She will be interred at Newkirk Cemetery on June 28th at 2:00.
