Elizabeth Carriell Kimbrough passed away at the age of 93 in McKinney, TX on June 29, 2019. She was born April 15, 1926 in Ponca City, OK to Christopher and Lena Nichols. She graduated from Oklahoma State University. Betty Carol married her college sweetheart, Ernest Terry Kimbrough. After starting their family, living in Alaska, then moving to Tulsa, she resumed her career and began teaching Home Economics for the Tulsa Public School system. She taught both Junior High and High School. She retired from teaching after 25 years. After many years as a widow, Carol met Leo Surko and they married. 25+ years later, Leo passed also then Carol moved to Texas to be with her children living there. She was very active in her church, St. Pius X in Tulsa and loved to travel throughout the world. One of her other loves was playing bridge and having coffee with her large groups of friends. She spent as much time with her family as she could and cared for so many in multiple ways.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her two husbands, her son, Christopher T. Kimbrough and her two brothers Robert and Joe Nichols. She is survived by her three daughters and families- Susan and TJ Rykowski, Nancy and Al Noland, and Janet Ramey. She was blessed with 6 grandchildren- Steven Ramey, Jeffry Noland, Allison Rykowski Paulaitis, Michael Ramey, Matthew Noland and Summer Kimbrough O'Brien. She was very blessed to meet her two great grandchildren as well.
Graveside service will be held at Calvary Cemetery on July 27 at 10:00am in Tulsa, OK where she will be entombed beside Terry Kimbrough. Family requests prayers of support and kindness to those in need in her name as well as any Mass requests offered.
