Obituary

Ella Ruth Kammeyer passed away on Tuesday, March 22, 2016 in Allen, Texas, at the age of 91. Born on November 21, 1924 in rural Alma, Missouri, Ella was the daughter of the late Herman J. Bargfrede and Amanda Elizabeth (Kiehl) Bargfrede. Ella grew up on a farm and was the 8th of 10 children, 5 boys and 5 girls.
Ella attended Trinity Lutheran School, a one-room school house for grades 1 through 4, then another building for grades 5 through 8. Ella graduated from Alma High School in 1943. After graduation, she moved to Kansas City, Missouri and worked during the day while attending night classes at Sara Schon College. She worked for several companies as a secretary/clerk in Kansas City. Her favorite job was working for Lever Brothers.
Ella married Ellis Carl Kammeyer on Easter Sunday, April 18, 1954 in Alma Missouri. She and Ellis made their home in Kansas City where their 3 children were born: Marsha Joan, Rhonda Louise and Mark Ellis. Ella became a full time homemaker and in 1967, the family moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma. The Kammeyers were faithful members of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church where Ella was active in the Lutheran Women's Missionary League, taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School, and sang in the choir. In later years she was active in the WOWs, the Church's Senior ministry.
Ella always had a garden of vegetables and flowers and enjoyed baking, sewing and various craft projects. She also attended Bible studies as well as volunteered at the Braille Center, assembling books for the blind. She was a dedicated and loving wife, mother, and grandmother who lived out her priorities of faith and family well.
Ella was preceded in death by her husband, Ellis, in December 1997, and moved to Allen, TX in 2006 to be near her daughters and their family. She joined Faith Lutheran Church and attended as often as she was able. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren in Texas and Missouri and attending their school and sporting events.
In addition to her husband and parents, Ella was preceded in death by her four sisters: Amanda Bargfrede, Lucile McGinnis, Olinda Bargfrede, and Laura Bargfrede; and five brothers: Bernhard Bargfrede, Ludwig Bargfrede, Otto Bargfrede, Arnold Bargfrede, and Emil Bargfrede.
Ella is survived by her children, Marsha Kammeyer of Plano, TX; Rhonda Krejci and her husband George of Allen, TX; Mark Kammeyer and his wife Janet of Chesterfield, MO; her grandchildren, Michelle Krejci, Mark Krejci, Jared Krejci, Paul Kammeyer, Michael Kammeyer, and Elise Kammeyer; and numerous nieces and nephews.
