Obituary

Ellen Lindsay Degen
Ellen L. Degen passed away on Friday, February 8, 2013 at Inverness Village in Tulsa, OK.
Ellen was born on June 24, 1932 in New Haven, CT to Mary Ellen and Kenneth W. Lindsay. It was during her high school days in Great Neck, NY that she met her future husband Robert W.Degen. She graduated from Edgewood Park Junior College, Briarcliff Manor, NY. and worked several years in New York City.
Of special joy for her entire life was playing with little children, no matter where the opportunity presented itself. The greatest pleasure was to see her daughter grow and get the best education that was possible; of equal importance was to spend time with and participate in all the education and activities of her two granddaughters. Ellen also had two other passions,
one was to volunteer to prepare flowers at Saint Francis Hospital and the other was to play golf.
She did it all with grace, dignity, and always a friendly smile.
Survivors are her husband of 56 years, Robert W. Degen, their daughter, Susan D. Pierce and her husband Gary Pierce, and granddaughters, Megan and Lindsay Pierce, Tulsa, OK. Also surviving are her sister, Elizabeth Buhler and her husband Peter Buhler, Weston, MA., a niece Brenda Buhler, San Francisco, CA. a nephew, Peter Buhler Jr., West Newton, MA. and a brother
Kenneth Lindsay and his wife Kay Lindsay, Hamden, MA. Although the family and many friends let go, she will be deeply missed, but not forgotten.
Special angels, too numerous to mention, that were really appreciated include the Alzheimers?s Memory Unit of the Skilled Nursing Facility of Inverness Village, all of the volunteer support teams, and the Saint Francis Hospital Hospice Program.
Memorial services will be held at the First Presbyterian Church, 7th and South Boston, Tulsa,at 2:00 PM Friday, February 15, 2013.
Arrangements are being directed by Moore?s Rosewood Chapel. In lieu of flowers, donation may be made to Hope?s Crossing at Camp Loughridge, 4900 W. 71st St., Tulsa, OK. 74131. This free summer day camp was founded in 2012 by the family for physically challenged children from the Tulsa area as an
honor to Ellen. Share memories at www.moorefuneral.com
