Elois "Lois" "Mamaw" Barrett, a long-time resident of the Coweta area, died peacefully Tuesday the 22nd of November, surrounded by her loved ones in her residence.
Elois was born in 1935 in Parks, Arkansas. She received her Diploma Graduate Certificate for Registered Nursing from the St. John School of Nursing in Tulsa, Oklahoma on September 7, 1956 and five short days later married the love of her life Donald E. Barrett. Don and Lois had a wonderfully abundant life filled with family, fellowship and unconditional love. Lois was a member of the United Methodist Church. She enjoyed traveling, playing twilight golf with Don, cooking, needlework and quilting, and being with family.
Lois was survived by her sister Betty Leger of North Little Rock, Arkansas. She was also blessed with and survived by three children; Deian Barrett, Julia Roderick and Lisa Dean, four grandchildren; Whitney Cianco, James "Bear" Roderick, Tyler Sieh and Lauren Sieh and three great-grandchildren; Fallon Cianco, Ryann Roderick and James "Levi" Roderick. Lois also welcomed into the family son-in-law Thomas Dean and grandson and daughter-in-law Chris Cianco and Alicia Roderick all of whom brought her great joy.
Lois was preceded in death by her mother and father; Charles and Ethel Rogers, her sister Shirley Rogers and her loving husband Don.
Lois became known to everyone in her later years as "Mamaw". She could always give one a different perspective on things if you took the time to sit a talk for a while. She enjoyed her life in the country, feeding her chickens, collecting the eggs and watching the birds eat from the many bird feeders scattered around the porch.
In keeping with Lois's wishes, there will be no funeral services and the family will host a private celebration of her life.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that you make a donation to the Disabled American Veterans organization or the Food Bank of Oklahoma in her honor.
