We announce with profound sadness the passing of **Emily C. Wood** on September 26, 2024, at the age of 99 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Born in Summit, New Jersey, Emily was a devoted wife, mother, educator, and community leader dedicated to education and service.

She married her childhood sweetheart, **Philip Warren Wood**, in 1946; they were together until his passing in 2013.

Emily graduated *cum laude* from Smith College in government and earned a master's in teaching from Manhattanville College, specializing in social studies and history.

Over five decades, she taught at Tulsa Public Schools, Heritage Academy, and Tulsa Community College, enriching students with real-world experiences like student-written books and collaborative projects.

A pioneer in multicultural education, Emily organized international exchanges and fostered global understanding through the Tulsa Global Alliance. Her dedication earned her many awards, including the National Council for the Social Studies Outstanding Elementary Teacher of the Year (1999).

She authored educational publications, secured grants, and spoke at conferences, sharing insights on citizenship and multicultural education.

She is survived by her four children-Martha, Arthur, Benjamin, and Warren-eleven grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.

A celebration of her life will be held on October 4 at 1 p.m. at All Souls Unitarian Church in Tulsa.
