Esther Louise Derton-Hoppis, 96, passed away on June 9, 2020 in Tulsa, OK. Born January 1, 1924 in Tulsa, OK to Stonewall Jackson Sowders and Ava Jewell Knott.

Esther was a 1942 graduate of Webster High School. She was married to William T. Derton from 1941 until his death. In 2000 she married Carol Hoppis until he passed away. Esther was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. Her family took second place only to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Esther was a charter member of Tulsa Baptist Temple. For 48 years she worked at various Tulsa Public Schools as a teacher's assistant and nurse's assistant. Esther also assisted on the Tulsa Election Board.

Esther is preceded in death by her parents, husbands, son, Larry Derton; daughter, Marsha McMahan; brother, Marshall Sowders and sister, Alice White. She is survived by her sons, David Derton and his wife, Helen of Owasso, OK and Dan Derton and his wife, Amy of Corinth, TX; eight grandchildren, Lori Harris, Steven McMahan, Christopher Derton, Katie Derton, Gabriel Derton, Abby Derton, Max Derton and Toby Derton; and two great-grandchildren, Morgan Harris and Lexi Derton.

Viewing will be 10 am - 8 pm, Friday, June 12, 2020 at Moore's Southlawn Funeral Home. Due to Covid-19 the family will be having a Private Family Service and thanks you for your understanding.
