Ethel Mae Hubbard, 90, of Tulsa, slipped from earth to heaven on December 9, 2020 surrounded by her loving family in her home. Born on June 19, 1930 to parents Cora and Walter Regier in Moundridge, Kansas, Ethel was the middle child of three and spent her childhood in Moundridge. After graduating from Moundridge High School in 1948 she married and had three children, one boy and two girls. While her children were still young, the family relocated and made Tulsa their home. It was here where she had her fourth child, a daughter. Ethel attended a business college and became a secretary where she developed the skills she later used to build an amazing career in real estate that lasted 50 years.
Ethel also had a deep love of gardening and flowers winning several awards and accolades through the years for her stunning gardens at her home. Additionally, she loved decorating, needlepoint, sewing and had an outstanding collection of bunnies and bird houses. She looked for ways to serve her community and found many opportunities through her church, Asbury United Methodist Church. One of her favorite activities was leading the project to make hundreds of Christmas gifts each year for those unable to get out to attend her church. It took several months to complete, normally starting in May or June because each gift was hand made by her. She led this initiative for decades and was known for her creative ideas and willingness to make the gifts as unique and special as she could. She was a member of several women circles, starting with the Priscilla circle and participated in many UMW opportunities at Asbury as well. Over the years she helped with as many church activities as she could, including checking children into classes and setting up communion. Before her death, Ethel was one of a few remaining Legacy Members of Asbury who started attending the church when it met in the Key Elementary building in the 1960's.
Anyone who knew her quickly learned she was a "people person" who was interested in building rich, long-lasting relationships, this quality served her well throughout her life. Ethel nurtured her friends like she nurtured her garden, giving her time and love to help them grow. Everyone who knew her came away with an appreciation for her warmth and generosity. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother who will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Preceded in death by her parents, Cora and Walter Regier, brother Bill Regier, sister Betty Pearson and husband John G. Hubbard.
