Obituary

Evaleeta June Tolbert-Hood
1934 - 2021

Evaleeta June Tolbert-Hood went to her eternal home March 19, 2021 in Tulsa, OK. Evaleeta was born to Everett Tolbert and Myrtle Bailey-Tolbert on June 6, 1934 in the Rosedale community. She grew up in the Leflore County area and graduated from Bokoshe High School in 1952.

Evaleeta married Kenneth Edmond Hood on July 5, 1956. She was married for 27 years before his passing in July of 1983.

Evaleeta was a loving mother to Pamela Kay Lipe and Roy Lynn Hood. She was a homemaker during her children's young lives and was very active in their school activities and sporting events. She took her children to church and for many years attended Dawson Assembly of God which became Northeast Assembly of God. She became a charter member of Greater Heights Assembly of God and was a children's nursery worker for 25 years. She later attended Carbondale Assembly of God.

After her children were grown, she worked for Bud's Thrifty Wise for 18 years until her retirement.

Evaleeta then experienced one of the greatest joys of her life when she became "Monie" to her only grandchild, Shelby Lynn. She was a devoted and the best "Monie" in the world. She kept herself busy taking Shelby on picnics, weekly zoo trips, school, and church events. Monie attended everything that Shelby was a participant in.

She loved her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, her family, and old fashion southern gospel music.
She was the best cook ever, a very good seamstress and enjoyed working in her yard and flowerbed. In her later years, she spent many hours working Crossword Puzzles, Word Search and Sudoku.

Evaleeta was preceded in death by her parents, Everett and Myrtle Tolbert; infant brother; husband, Kenneth; and son-in-law, Tommy Lipe.

Survived by daughter, Pamela Lipe, Tulsa, OK.
