Evelyn Brown, 95, of Salina, Oklahoma, passed away Wednesday, November 25, 2020.
Evelyn Lenore Brown was born in Virgil, Kansas on August 22, 1925 to Harley Parks Wagner and Lucy (Blackburn) Wagner. After graduating high school Evelyn moved to Denver working as a civil servant during WWII. After the War she returned to Kansas and married Keith Brown (deceased 1983). They settled in Chase, Kansas and had four children: Kent, Kathy, Kris and Kraig. Evelyn and Keith moved to Miami, Oklahoma in 1965 and then moved to Salina, Oklahoma in 1972.
Evelyn was an active member of the communities where she lived. She was a Girl Scout leader, a member of the Eastern Star, member of Home Extension and a member of the Salina Methodist Church. After the death of her husband, Evelyn became a foster grandparent in Salina Public Schools, a position she held for 31 years. During that time "Grandma Brown" loved working with the children and the wonderful staff of the Salina school system.
For those who knew her she was the life of the party - she remembered everyone she met and was always interested in how they were and what they were doing. Many can still hear her laughing as she did numerous times each day.
In 2018 Evelyn moved to Catoosa, Oklahoma where she was a resident of Canoe Brooke and eventually Rolling Hills Long Term Care facility.
Evelyn will be missed by her many friends and her loving family including her three sons: Kent Brown and wife Dee of Garland, Texas; Kris Brown and wife Kathryn of Garland, Texas; Kraig Brown and of Garland, Texas; and her daughter Kathy Dinneen and husband Mike of Catoosa, Oklahoma. In addition to her children Evelyn had 8 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren. We would like to give a special thanks to Marcus Littlefield for always being there for mother. Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Keith Brown, a granddaughter, Brandy Brown, and a daughter-in-law, Cindy.
A special thank you to all of you who made my mother's life "special."
Evelyn will be laid to rest at a later time in Virgil, Kansas where she grew up and her family is buried.
