Evelyn Elisabeth Todd was born on January 20, 1918 in Grayson, Oklahoma. She was the third child born to Lawrence and Antonia Thierry. Evelyn was baptized into the Catholic Church at the age of 1 month at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church in Eufaula, OK, and after relocating to Tulsa, she continued to be a devoted member of the Church as a parishioner of St. Augustine Catholic Church. Evelyn received her formal education at Grayson Public School.
On September 3, 1936, Evelyn married the late Farmer Todd, with which they shared 32 years. To this union five children were born: Charlesetta, Yolanda, Mary, Barbara and Kenneth.
Evelyn was an entrepreneur and a homemaker. She owned and operated Todd's Laundry for over 20 years, and played a major role in providing outsourced laundry services to numerous cleaners in Tulsa. Moreover, Evelyn was a caring and supportive mother, daughter, sister and grandmother. She was known affectionately by her great-grandchildren as "Gramma Lou". Evelyn enjoyed spending time with her family and "working in the dirt" (gardening). She always would say, "Give me my flowers now so I can enjoy them." Later in life, she developed a liking for "pushing buttons" (casinos) on her outings with her daughter and granddaughters.
Evelyn was called home and granted her angel wings on the morning of Thursday, March 5, 2020. She was greeted at heaven's gate by both parents; her children: Charlesetta, Yolanda and Kenneth; her siblings: Earl, Chester, Connie, Raymond, Juanita and Mildred; step-children: Margie and Irvin; and grandson, Carlos.
Evelyn will be missed by all who knew her. She leaves to cherish her memory: two loving daughters: Mary Corbett of Tulsa and Barbara Gipson of Owasso ; her sisters: Helen Thompson of Tulsa , Shirley Cawthorne of Tulsa, and Kathryn Ware of California; grandchildren: Jerry Record of Tulsa, Cynthia Samuels and her husband, Vernon, of Tulsa, Lisa Hoover of Tulsa, Carrie Winn of Tulsa, Nichole Gipson of England; step-children: Lois House, Mayola Todd of Oklahoma City, Leonard Todd of Colorado; 12 great-grandchildren; 33 great-great grandchildren; 5 great-great-great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and a host of beloved relatives and friends.
