Everett Eugene (Gene) Masias, 79, died peacefully on Saturday morning, November 3, 2018 in Tulsa, OK. He was born on May 28, 1939 to Everett Raymond and Hazel Marie (Edward) Masias in Dewey, OK. He graduated from Dewey High School in May of 1957. He married Linda Jolene Farley on November 26, 1960 and began his career at Phillips Petroleum; he later began a career in the telecommunications field. Gene retired in the year 2000 and enjoyed many amazing adventures with family and friends.
Gene dedicated countless hours to woodworking and voluntarily created many handmade wooden toys that were distributed during the holidays to children throughout Oklahoma. Gene is beloved by many, including, extended family members, friends, and people throughout his life who viewed him as a friend, or a surrogate dad or grandfather figure in their lives.
Gene Masias is survived by his wife, Linda; daughter, Shelley; son, Marty, and his wife, Erin; brother, Ronald Masias; sister-in-law, Carnelda Masias, and grandson's: Daniel, Justin, Evan, Mitchell, and Trevor. Gene has one niece Kerry Truitt and one, nephew, Michael Masias. Gene cherished his great nephews, Ryan and Todd Truitt, as well as, their families. Gene enjoyed hearing stories and looking at pictures of his great-great nephews: Hudsyn, Masyn, John, and McCoy Truitt. Gene has many other family members he cherished. He is preceded in death by his parents; Everett Raymond and Hazel Marie (Edwards) Masias.
The family would like to thank the caregivers and staff for their efforts, care, and dedication to Gene during his last days and the countless doctors and nurses who provided Gene with excellent care throughout his living years. We are forever grateful for the extended years Gene was blessed with because of the superb, quality care provided by his physician's.
Viewing for Gene Masias will be held 6-8pm, Thursday, November 8, 2018 and the funeral is scheduled for 10am, Friday, November 9, 2018 both at Moore's Southlawn Chapel, 9350 E. 51st Street, Tulsa, OK. All are welcome to attend to celebrate Gene Masias' life. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to The American Diabetes Association or The American Cancer Society.
