Faye Bivens's Obituary

Faye Bivens, 88, was born to Joseph W. Massey and Gracie Faye (Cobb) Massey on December 29, 1928, in Lockesburg, AR; she passed from this life on February 19, 2017, in Tulsa. Viewing will be Friday, February 24, from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Moore's Southlawn. A memorial service will be held Saturday, February 25, at 10:00 a.m. at Aldersgate United Methodist Church, 3702 South 90th East Avenue, in Tulsa.

As a child, Faye was raised by her father and older siblings since her mother passed when she was only 3 years old. Her family lovingly referred to her as "Kissie", and still do to this day. Kissie was a basketball player in high school, and evidently, a pretty good shooter. At the age of 17, her sister, Imagene, helped her to come to Tulsa from Arkansas to attend Draughon School of Business. After graduation, she was employed as a bookkeeper/accountant at Mason's Furniture, and eventually was employed as a secretary at Flint Steel. On September 4, 1954, she married Cull Bivens, Jr. Faye and Cull were charter members of Aldersgate United Methodist Church in Tulsa. Faye was also a member of Epsilon Sigma Alpha. She and Cull were avid Tulsa University football and basketball fans. Faye loved sports, especially basketball, shopping, celebrating holidays and, most importantly, her family.

Faye was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Cull Bivens, Jr.; her sisters, Imagene Willoughby and Betty Russow; and her brother, Bob Massey.

Faye is survived by her daughter, Suzanne Mogelnicki and her husband, Robert; her daughter, Jana Hulse and her husband, Roger; and her son, Michael Bivens and his wife, Cindy; seven grandchildren: Lisa Mogelnicki, Mark Mogelnicki, Joey Mogelnicki, Mitch Hulse, Bryce Hulse, Brandon Bivens, Cassady Blakesley and her husband, Tony; and two great granddaughters: Rylee Blakesley and Tullia Blakesley. She is also survived by her sisters, Edna Longacre of Tulsa and Anna "Sally" Pounds of Ashdown, AR; and by her longtime friend who was like a sister, Oma Jean Lansdown.

Memorial donations may be made in her name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Moore's Southlawn 918-663-2233 share memories at www.moorefuneral.com
