Beustring, Flora Mae (Strain), 96, died Monday, February 4, 2013, surrounded by her family. Flora was born in Haskell, TX., to George Washington & Bertie Mae (Nokes) Strain. At a very early age her family moved to Sand Springs, OK to work in the oil field. A lady, ahead of her time, Flora graduated from business college and went to work for the Wheatley Bros.
She was hired away from them to become the very first employee of Unit Rig Corporation. She was literally ?swept off her feet? by her husband, Roland Beustring, for dinner at the Mayo Hotel. They were married August 24, 1940. During their 64 year marriage they were instrumental in the founding of Tulsa Screw Products and Oklahoma Christian University, Edmond, OK. With Church of
Christ leadership, they participated in formation of Turley Children?s Home, which later became Hope Harbor Children?s Home, Claremore, OK.
Flora was a gifted painter in watercolors. She was generous friend who brought joy, comfort and a special hospitality to all she encountered. She made everyone around her feel special. She was a Christian Witness, who brought the Hope of Heaven to everyone.
Flora is survived by her children: Glenn Roland Beustring, Tulsa, OK., Robert Gary Beustring, Cleburn, TX., Carole Lynn (Beustring) Hazel, her husband, Stan, Tulsa, OK: Grandchildren: Kimberly Greer, her husband, Dan, Becca Lindsey her husband David, Lisa Neal, her husband, Todd, Susan Conway, Her husband Kyle. Chris Hazel, his wife Regina & Mike Hazel, his wife Traci. Other grandchildren: Donald Glenn Buestring, Jessica Beustring, Tina Hart & Robert Gary Beustring Jr.; Great grandchildren: Sarah, Sam, Sydney, Elizabeth, Elliott, Madelyn, Annabell, Kyle, Jackson, Gracie, Grant, Grayson, Riley,& Carson. Also survived by cousins and extended family members. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and 2 brothers: George Hurst Strain & Herbert Vance Strain.
A celebration of Flora?s life will be held 10 a.m., Thursday February 7, 2013, Moore?s Southlawn Chapel, Visitation 6-8 p.m, Wednesday, February 6, 2013. Interment, Memorial Park Cemetery.
