FLORENCE ANN HOLLAND was born in Ponca City, Oklahoma on September 25, 1921, the daughter of Samuel and Florence Collins. She died peacefully in her sleep in Tulsa on July 11, 2015. She was 93 years of age. Flo, as she was known, grew up in Ponca City and graduated from Ponca City High School. Flo then attended Ward-Belmont College in Nashville before transferring to the University of Oklahoma. She was a member of the Delta-Delta-Delta sorority. Flo graduated from OU in 1943 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business. It was at OU where she met her husband-to-be, Gordon E. Holland of Enid. They were married in Ponca City on December 5, 1945.
The church and her charitable activities were an important part of her life. She was a long time member of the First Methodist Church of Ponca City until Flo and Gordon moved to Montereau in Tulsa in 2008 where they then attended the Protestant Worship Services at Montereau. Flo generously donated to many worthwhile causes in Ponca City and elsewhere.
Flo was pre-deceased by her parents and sister, Virginia. Flo is survived by her husband of 69 years, Gordon; her only child, Jack C. Holland, and his wife, Cynthia, of Hilton Head Island, SC; her four grandsons, Mark, Scott, Eric, and Brian; and her six great-grand-children.
Her family wishes to thank her many friends, her medical professionals, St. Francis Hospice, and her caregivers for all prayers, care, and many kindnesses she received.
Interment will take place at the IOOF Cemetery, Ponca City. A private memorial service will take place at the Montereau Chapel.
