Obituary

Frances I. Freeman beloved wife , mother and friend was called to her heavenly home on Thursday May 1, 2014, by her beloved Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. The daughter of Samuel and Pansy Moss, Frances was born April 8, 1920 in Van Buren Arkansas.
Upon graduation from Van Buren high school, where she was valedictorian and recognized as a member of the National Honor Society, she completed courses at Draughn's School of Business. Following her training, she became the credit manager for Sears Roebuck & Company in Ft. Smith Arkansas for five years. During this time, she met and married her husband of sixty-three years, Thomas H. Freeman.
Following their marriage Tom and Frances moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma, where they owned and operated a small local grocery store. Possibly the most significant and memorable portion of Frances's working life was the operation of Freeman Day Care Center, which with the assistance of her husband Tom they operated for over thirty years. They became very affectionately known as "Me-Maw and Pap-Paw"; by the hundreds of children they cared for, many of whom kept in touch well into their adult years. Frances was a devout and dedicated Christian, making her faith, family, and day care center top priorities in her life. She was active in the local church, teaching Sunday School classes for many years. Frances' legacy will be defined by the lives she touched through her day care, church affiliations and by just being a friend and supporter for anyone who needed one.
Frances was preceded in death by her parents Samuel and Pansy Moss, her husband Thomas H. Freeman, and her brother Sam Moss Jr. She is survived by two sons, Steve and Mike Freeman of Shawnee, Beverly Freeman, wife of Mike, her grandson Luke Freeman of Shawnee and several nieces and nephews. This world is a little darker today May 1, 2014, but heaven is a little brighter. Thanks for everything mom. Visitation will be 10AM-8PM, Sunday, May 4, 2014 at Moore's Southlawn.
