Francis William Weaver, affectionately known as "Frank," was born August 28, 1928 in Allen County Indiana, to Julius and Mary Magdalene Weaver. He passed from this life in the early evening of December 28 in Tulsa, OK at the age of 89, surrounded by family and loved ones.
Frank graduated from high school in Fort Wayne, Indiana. After school he earned a degree in Civil Engineering at Indiana Tech University. He was then drafted to the Korean War, where he served in Army's Center for Missile and Rocket Programs in Huntsville, Alabama.
After serving his country, Frank moved to Tulsa and utilized his GI Bill to earn a second degree in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Tulsa. During his time in college, he began working part-time for the late Senator Dewey Bartlett at Keener Oil Company. He continued with Keener and the Bartlett family through graduation and for the entirety of his career, retiring in 1993. He was always grateful for the Bartlett family's kindness, as well as his service to one company and industry for his entire career. He was honored in industry organizations and was a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers.
After meeting the love of his life, Mary Lou Otten, at a Catholic Charities dance, the two were married in Tulsa on August 18, 1956. They were married 61 years until his death. He always considered his wife, five children, ten grandchildren, and four great grandchildren to be his greatest accomplishment.
Frank enjoyed golf, reading, intellectual conversations with his "coffee shop boys," and traveling with his family. He and his wife proudly visited all 50 states, and traveled extensively through Canada. He is regarded by his family as a simple yet principled man with a strong sense of values: love, education, honesty, integrity, efficiency, and a strong work ethic. He was also a man of faith who believed that mass was never to be missed on Sundays. First and foremost, though, his family remembers him as a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather with, at times, a bit of an ornery streak.
Frank was predeceased by his parents and brother Edward. Frank is survived by his wife, Mary Lou and his children: Vicki, husband Victor; Mark, wife Lori; Jeff, wife Kathy; Missy; Bob, wife Pam; sister Mary Lou Schnurr; and brother George. His grandchildren are: Rachael, husband Zach; Rebecca; Ben, wife Jenny; Meagan, husband Tony; Katie; Drew, Jenny, Jessica, Steven, and Lindley.
