Obituary

Frank Allen Bishop was born March 22, 1948. He was the second of ten children born to Laura and Joseph Bishop Sr. of Louisville, Kentucky. It was at the Westport High School branch of the U.S. Air Force Civil Air Patrol that his love for flying was cultivated. After High School graduation he immediately tested and was accepted into the Army Flight training program. As an Army Helicopter Pilot and Warrant Officer he willfully risked his life for his country in Vietnam. After being shot down three times he sustained near fatal injuries resulting in 7 months of rehabilitation in a full body cast. But the Hand of God was on his life. The injuries took the strength from his legs, but could not touch his enduring spirit. Frank insisted on walking again, working again, and living. He astounded the doctors, regained his strength and, went on to have a flourishing career with Texaco and Tulsa Transit. In his spare time he enjoyed sharing his wisdom and experience with the younger generation. As an accomplished pilot, marksman and mechanic extraordinaire it was nothing for him to build Kit Cars and help others with their Kit Cars.
