Fred Porter Whartenby, 87, of Tulsa, passed away Saturday, March 4th, 2017. He was born March 22nd, 1929 in Enid, OK to Charles and Helen Elsie Whartenby. He was a retired computer programmer for Sun Oil Company. He was a member of Memorial Drive United Methodist Church and enjoyed mowing, was an avid tinkerer, could repair most any item and he enjoyed woodworking. Fred is survived by his children, Mark Whartenby and his wife Jamie of Tulsa; Sheri Deason and her husband John of Tulsa; his grandchildren, Mattie Deason of Tulsa; Mollie Battles and her husband Richard of Tulsa; Wrex Whartenby of Edmond; Fred Whartenby and his wife Brittany of Ada; Arlo Whartenby of Tulsa; great grandchildren; Luke Deason of Tulsa; Gracie Blackwood of Tulsa; Dolly Whartenby of Ada and great great grandson Noah Deason. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife JoAnn Whartenby.
