Reverend Freddie OB Carlton was born on March 29, 1941, in Woodrow, Arkansas, the son of the late Fred and Hester Verser Carlton. He passed away on Friday, February 9, 2024, at his home in Claremore, Oklahoma, surrounded by his loving family. On June 8, 1962, he and Betty Lucille Sweaney were united in marriage in Morrow, Arkansas. Together, they celebrated 61 years, 8 months, and I day.
OB lived on a farm where they raised cattle and chickens. He taught math and science for 27 years, mostly in the Sand Springs School District. He was a skilled carpenter, an anointed preacher, and a loving son, husband, father, brother, papa, and uncle.
He loved his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and lived for him faithfully for over 60 years. He accepted the call to preach the gospel at the age of 33. Brother OB and Sister Betty pastored at Good Hope, Bethel, and Mt. Pleasant Churches for a little over 24 years. This year would make 50 years of ministry for Brother OB.
OB was a man of his word and truly lived what he believed and preached. He had a heart to help young ministers, and always kept his pulpit open to each one. He loved the ministry.
He is survived by his loving wife, Betty, and their four children: Rhonda Hash and husband Doug of Bixby, Oklahoma; Roger Carlton of Siloam Springs, Arkansas; Rick Carlton and wife Janie of Kansas, Oklahoma; and Rebecca Mills and husband Dewey of Claremore, Oklahoma. 12 grandchildren and their spouses- Tiffany, Danielle, Derek, Lynnsey, Melanie, Benjamin, Bethanie, Stephanie, Cheryl, Aaron, Rachele, and Nathaniel, And 19 great-grandchildren and one on the way.
He is also survived by one brother, Keith Carlton, of Searcy, Arkansas, and numerous nieces and nephews.
OB is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, JL Carlton and Kelly Carlton, and one niece, Tristin Toler.
Visitation will be 6:00PM to 8:00PM, Monday, February 12, 2024 at the Westside Holiness Church, 2950 North OK 88, Claremore, OK 74017. Funeral Services will be 1:00PM Tuesday, February 13, 2024 at the Westside Holiness Church, followed by burial at Woodlawn Cemetery in Claremore, OK.
