Frieda Mae Larson

"When you were at a party or some function, she gave her complete attention and was talking and listening only to you." stated a friend of Frieda Mae (Koons) Larson. One of her nieces said, "She made an imprint on my heart that helped make me who I am, and I will always love her." Frieda passed away unexpectedly on Friday, August 13, 2021, in Tulsa, OK. She brought joy to family, friends and strangers with her smile, tender heart, kind, and generous spirit. Frieda was a woman of action. When you needed something done or advice, she knew just the right thing to do or say. She led with charisma and humor and when you spent time with her, you would laugh, learn, and walk away feeling love. You might also be walking away with a William Sonoma bag as she loved to give gifts. Frieda was a breast cancer survivor; she encouraged others and shared her fight. The Komen Foundation of Tulsa awarded her for her volunteer work in 2019. Frieda was born Oct. 23, 1960, in KC, MO to Kathleen and Elmer Koons, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her brother Steve Koons, sister Earlene Koons, stepmother Mary Grace Koons and in-laws Duke and Rica Larson. Frieda graduated from Wathena High School in 1979, she received BA from Missouri Western in 1983 and then an MBA from Oklahoma City University in 1998. She started her work at UPS in 1992 and retired after a successful career as Area Sales Manager in 2019. Frieda is survived by her husband, Guy Larson. They were married on December 9, 1998. She is also survived by her brother Walt (Laura) Koons, sisters, Ruthie Koons and Tricia (Greg) Harris and her "Bonus" family: Ann Euler, Kassie Newton, Marty Hewins, Jeanie Weidmaier and Jerri Michaels. She was a beloved Aunt "Tante" to numerous nieces and nephews. Frieda is also survived by her "Tulsa Family" of 38 years. Frieda is missed beyond measure. She touched so many lives, was well-loved and loved well. Frieda was a rare person who lived into her values, she showed up and she gave her complete self to all. Anne Frank said, "No one has ever become poor by giving." Frieda was a very wealthy woman. She was a devout Catholic and built many friendships through her tireless work with the "Most Precious Blood Parish 3029 S. 57th West Ave., Tulsa, OK 74107 and "Abbey of Our Lady of Ephesus" 8005 NW 316th St., Gower, MO 64454. Memorials may be made at either church. Both locations held Requiem Masses for the repose of her soul. A celebration of life and internment of her ashes will be planned for a later date.
