Obituary

Gary L Cochran, 74, of Tulsa, OK, born September 2, 1948, passed away on June 9, 2023 in Tulsa, OK. Gary was a member of the graduating class of 1966 at McLain High School. At the age of 18 he was drafted into the Army where he served his country during the Vietnam War.

In the early years of his career, Gary served as a deputy for the Tulsa County Sheriff's office. During his service he gained many friends, who he remained in contact with over the years. Gary loved to see the countryside. He had that opportunity while driving entertainment buses. The entertainer that stands out most, whom he became close friends with, was Roy Clark. Gary served on the city council in Owasso, OK, and later was elected mayor. During his term in office Gary had many accomplishments that he was very proud of.

Gary married his sweetie Pam on June 2, 2007. Together they retired and spent some of their best years together.

Gary enjoyed many hobbies from hunting and fishing to woodworking and turning pens, just to name a few. He loved any opportunity to gather around the table with friends and family to share a meal and stories. Over the past several months he found an extended family at the "Coffee Bunker", where he shared his story and learned of the stories of others. This was one of his most cherished places to spend his time.

Gary was preceded in death by his father Wilmar "Willie" Cochran and mother Geraldine Cochran, both of Turley, several aunts and uncles, and a step grandchild.

Gary is survived by his wife Pamela Cochran of Tulsa, OK, brother Leon Cochran of Turley, OK, son Gary Cochran and spouse Connie of Texas, son David Cochran and spouse Susan of Tulsa, OK, daughter Christen Frost and spouse Jack of Broken Arrow, OK, step daughter Teresa Earley and spouse Kenneth, step son Wes White and spouse Dana, ten grandchildren, several aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews, an numerous friend he called family.
