Obituary

Our blue-eyed beloved, Gayle Lee (Chadic) Webb-Childs, 70, of Broken Arrow, OK, met her Heavenly Father on December 23, 2024. Gayle was born on April 21, 1954, to George and Eva Chadic in Weleetka, OK. While attending Sand Springs High School, Gayle studied the art of hair. In 1970, Gayle married her first husband. Together, they had their son Curtis Webb. Two years later, much to her dismay, they purchased Trend Review Hair Salon. Gayle was concerned about the financial risk. However, she was so successful that the loan was settled within the first year. In all, Gayle spent an astonishing 54 years as a well-known master stylist and certified-master instructor. In 1984, Gayle met the love of her life William (Bill) Theo Childs, and they wed in 1985. Together, the two of them raised three amazing children Curtis, Christopher and Morgan.

Gayle was predeceased by her father George, mother Eva, brothers Allen and Owen, and sister Melanie. She is survived by her husband Bill, son Curtis Webb and his wife Nicole, son Chris Childs and his wife Stacey, daughter Morgan Leffingwell and her husband Robert, sister Scarlett (Herbert) Vance, brother Jerry (Dawn) Chadic, brother Stanley (Myria) Chadic, sister Mary Merritt, and sister Phebe Osborn. Gayle also leaves behind the treasures of her heart, eleven grandchildren: Titus, Noble and Justice Webb; Alexis Carpenter, Jonathan Mason and Braydon Childs; Lexus, Carter, Lukas, Harper, and Henslee Leffingwell, and a great grandchild, Donald Barton. Gayle will also be missed by a host of extended family members and friends.

Never has a person's name been more fitting than "Gayle". Her name literally means cheerful. And if you knew Gayle, you knew she was the essence of "cheerfulness." Her spirit and physique certainly did not match; she was a spiritual giant in this cute, cheerful and oh so petite body. Gayle loved the Lord with all her heart. One might even think she was a bible scholar, quoting scriptures while witnessing to others.

Gayle cherished many highlights in her life. She was honored when asked to style hair for the late Minnie Pearl and Francis Coppola's wife, Eleanor. She dedicated many years to the renowned Tulsa Cerebral Palsy Association where she directed and performed in the Red Glove Revues. Gayle shared a very special, unique bond with her siblings. Because of their love for music and instruments, they started a band in 1996, called Akteelew (Weleetka spelled backwards.) In 1999, they formally changed the band's name to The Cartunes Rock and Roll Show Band, and to this day, the legacy continues. Not only was Gayle an accomplished keyboardist, but her beautiful voice paired with her siblings would mesmerize audiences in showcasing their soulful harmonies of classic tunes. Gayle also enjoyed boating and snow skiing. However, Gayle's greatest joys and accomplishments were the love of her husband and the gift of being a momma and a doting grandma.

Gayle didn't want a funeral-she wanted a party. So today, this Remembrance is for us. But, in April, we will celebrate the birth date of the matriarch of our family. And of course, we will celebrate in "Gayle style."
