Gene Casey, a cherished presence whose life resonated with warmth and wisdom, entered eternal rest at the age of 90 on August 9, 2023, leaving behind a legacy of love that touched hearts far and wide.
Born in Pryor, Oklahoma, on March 13, 1933, Gene Casey entered the world during the Great Depression, a defining era that shaped his perspective on life. He believed he was fortunate to be born during such challenging times, as it instilled in him a deep sense of gratitude for life's simplest pleasures. Gene often remarked that experiencing hardship taught him the value of essentials and how doing without can restore one's soul. He would often say, "You can make it without food for a while, but not without friends."
A proud patriot, Gene honorably served on Active Duty in the Army of the United States Signal Corps from 1953-1955. Following his military service, he ventured into the oil fields for work, lending his talents to an industry that powered the nation's progress. Gene met Betty Lou Cummings, while returning to his hometown of Pryor, Oklahoma. Their connection blossomed and they married and brought forth three children Terri, Connie, and Kevin Casey.
Gene's professional journey encompassed various impactful roles. He lent his talents to organizations such as Service Pipeline and Meadow Gold. Gene's unwavering commitment to the well-being of his community extended to the Tulsa Health Department and Morton Health Center, where he dedicated many years of his life as a System Analyst. Gene also obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mathematics from Tulsa University, a milestone that marked his dedication to personal growth.
In a later chapter, his love expanded when he married his second wife Margaret Isam and together, they adopted Mary Casey as their daughter. He attended Grace Assembly of God, and later, Simple Church in Tulsa. He loved attending church services where he found solace, strength, and a sense of belonging among fellow believers.
After becoming self-employed, Gene retired later in life and became affectionately known as "Gene the Dancing Machine".
