A.E. "Gene" Gibson, 83 of Broken Arrow, Ok. went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, August 8, 2018. He was born January 28, 1935 in Wister, Ok. to Athel Gibson and Frances (Ellis) Gibson. He is predeceased by his parents and brother Bill Gibson, daughter Alicia Gibson Long and nephew Roy Edward Gibson. Survivors include his wife Beverly, son Jae Gibson, San Francisco, Ca., sister-in-law, Mary Gibson, Wister, Ok., niece Karen Gibson, Wister, Ok., Robbie Santoyo Kansas City, Mo., and nephew Dustin Gibson, Wister, Ok.
He graduated from Wister High School in 1953. Attended Eastern A&M in Wilburton Ok.,
University of Oklahoma in Norman, Ok., and Northeastern State in Tahlequah, Ok. A brief Military service while stationed at Fort Hood, TX. Sustaining a significant back injury during Basic Training, he received an Honorable Discharge.
He worked twenty-nine years as a System Analyst; with time split between two major companies. At age fifty-eight took early retirement. Finding retirement unchallenging, he went to work with Memorial Park Cemetery as a Councilor Salesman for four years. Then to Rose Hill Cemetery for four years. And later working in Security with Gilcrease Museum ten years. He certainly had a variety of occupations.
His hobbies included dogs and music. He was a trainer at the Mid-Continent Kennel Club of Tulsa for many years. He enjoyed several breeds throughout the decades- German Shepherds, Doberman Pinschers and last dog; a Weimaraner. He took pleasure in playing the violin and was attempting to master the guitar. Also, played the French Horn in the High School band.
With the love of his Church Family at Eastwood Baptist Church, and the men at Bible Study Fellowship, he grew even deeper in the Lord. Gene had a brilliant, caring, loving mind, cleaver wit, and a profound, spiritual understanding of God. His presence will be missed.
