Obituary

Kenneth Gene Monteith was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on April 1, 1942 to Gene and Charlotte Monteith. He was their first child. He was raised in Covington, Kentucky until the age of five when they moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma. As a teenager he managed a paper route. At age sixteen he started working at Jitney Jungle Grocery Store as a stock hand. He attended Rogers High school and graduated with the class of 1960. After high school he met his wife Betty at Jitney Jungle. He attended night classes perusing a business degree. Gene and Betty were married September 15, 1961. Their son Mark was born and died on August 22, 1963. Two years later they had their first daughter Michelle on April 15, 1965. Three years later they had their second daughter Melanie on February 7, 1968.
Gene spent many years in the construction and trucking industry until 1995, when he started KGM trucking. Thoughout his trucking career he made many friends with his gift to gab. He retired in 2008 to peruse his hobbies of 4X stock trading and spending time on his tractor. In his free time he loved watching Fox News and pestering his grandkids. He enjoyed these hobbies until he suffered a stroke in April of 2015.
He is survived by his wife Betty of fifty-four years: his brother Gary and wife Maggie Monteith of King, North Carolina; Daughter Michelle and husband Randy Gordon of Sapulpa, Oklahoma; Daughter Melanie Monteith of Beggs, Oklahoma; his is grandchildren Ashley, Kelsey, and Linsey Gordon of Sapulpa, Oklahoma; Ellie Monteith of Beggs, Oklahoma; Niece Emily Monteith of King, North Carolina and Nephew William Monteith of San Francisco, California.
He was preceded in death by his Parents Gene and Charlotte Monteith and his son Mark Monteith.

Memorial service will be 11:00 A.M., Thursday, March 31, 2016 at Moore's Southlawn Chapel, 9350 E. 51st, Tulsa, OK. Moore's Southlawn 918-663-2233
