George Joseph Funk, age 93, passed away on Wednesday, November 5, 2025. George was born on April 8, 1932, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to Charles Woodford and Edna Elizabeth (Rask) Funk. He was a proud graduate of Central High School, Class of 1950.

Following high school, George began working at the Tulsa World, where he served as a stere-typesetter and later in the mailroom. In 2007, George retired from the Tulsa World after 54 years of dedicated service.

In his younger years, George was an Eagle Scout and an avid bowler. He participated in several leagues throughout the Tulsa area, most notably the Tulsa World league. It was during this time that he met Mary Jane Lee. On April 6, 1962, George and Mary Jane were married and remained devoted to one another until her passing in 2006. Together, they had two sons, Steven David and Charles "Kyle" Funk.

Following his retirement, George enjoyed traveling, including memorable trips to England, Germany, and France. He also loved gardening and took great pride in maintaining his yard. George was well known for his love of food, his sense of humor, and his ability to form lasting friendships.

George was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Edna (Rask) Funk; two sisters, Frances (Funk) Fillmore and Beverly (Funk) Colbert; and his beloved wife, Mary Jane Funk.

He is survived by his sons, Steven (Pam) Funk of Sand Springs and Kyle (Dana) Funk of Coweta; six grandchildren, Patrick (Maranda) Funk of Winchester, Michael (Krista) Funk of Sand Springs, Tamara (Austin) Reed of Sand Springs, and Amelia, Whitley, and Colin Funk of Coweta; and five great-grandchildren, Logan and Jacob Funk, Ethan and Kai Cannon, all of Sand Springs, and Wyatt Funk of Winchester.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at Moore Funeral Home Southlawn Chapel in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Burial will immediately follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in Tulsa. A visitation for family and friends will be held on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Moore Funeral Home Southlawn Chapel 9350 East 51st Street, Tulsa, Oklahoma.
