George Burnett Hauger died peacefully in his sleep on July 6th, 2015. He was born February 6th, 1932 in Dallas, Texas to Leslie and Mary Eva Hauger. After graduating from Tulsa Central, George attended the University of Oklahoma and obtained a degree in Finance. He was a member of the Delta Upsilon fraternity. He attended the Graduate School of Banking at the University of Wisconsin in 1963.
From 1953 to 1955, he served in the U.S. Navy. He then worked for First National Bank of Tulsa, rising to the level of VP in 1967. He moved to Guaranty National Bank as Executive Vice President. George became President and Director of Security from 1974 to 1984. He then became President and Director of First National Bank in Hominy, Oklahoma from 1984 to 1998. He remained on the Board of Directors in his retirement.
George was an active Elder at The First Christian Church in Tulsa where he served as President of the Board, on the Pulpit Committee, the Stewardship Committee and the Chairman of the Endowment Trust. He was President of the Summit Club in 1985.
George is survived by his wife of 55 years, Joan; his children: Kim Hauger and his wife, Nancy, Robert Hauger and his wife Alice, and his daughter Kathy Ostrem and her husband, Scott along with his beloved grandchildren: Geoffrey Hauger and his wife, Satin; Amy Hauger; Christopher Hauger; Olivia Hauger; Justin Ostrem and Annika Ostrem and a new great-grandson, Gavin; his brother Leslie S Hauger and wife Gloria; and daughters Kerry Hauger Beebe and Jamie Hauger Huneycutt and husband Jay.
He loved tennis his entire life, starting in high school at Tulsa Central. He continued his game at the Shadow Mountain Tennis Club where he developed a great group of friends.
He was an avid bridge player, becoming an ACBL Silver Life Master (Duplicate Bridge). He particularly enjoyed his Thursday Men's as long as he could get there.
Thanks to his many friends, his medical professionals, St. Francis Hospice, and his caregivers for all the prayers, care and many kindnesses they afforded him.
A Memorial Service will be held in the sanctuary of First Christian Church on Thursday, July 9th at 1:00 P.M. The family asks that any memorials be sent to The First Christian Church Endowment Trust, St. Francis Hospice or the charity of choice.
