Purdum, George Richard., 64, has left this earthly world for the beautiful Tall Grass Prairie that is heaven, Tuesday, November 12, 2013. George was born in Tulsa, OK, to Harold Richard & Mary Frances (Beck) Purdum, January 7, 1949. In his early years, George grew up in Norman, OK., where many of his high school track records stayed in place for over 13 years. He was an outstanding athlete. George attended Missouri Valley University on a track scholarship. He was also an Eagle scout.
George enjoyed and took pride in the work he did for the Oklahoma Tax Commission and most special to him were his co-workers. George was always there for family and friends alike. George's greatest paSSion was Oklahoma's wonderful country side. It could be said of him, "if there was a fish to be caught, a deer to be shot, or a turkey to be hunted down; then don't look for George, he already left town."
George is survived by his two brothers, Robert Poe of Tulsa and Patrick Poe of Norman, OK.
A gathering of friends will be held at Spicewood at Cedar Ridge Club House, 4602 South Royal Dublin Lane, Broken Arrow (108th & Garnett); 12:00 Noon, Saturday, November 16, 2013.
