George Calvan Williams was born July 22, 1930, in Alva Oklahoma, to Bert and Henrietta Williams. George graduated from Blackwell High School in 1948. After High School George joined the Navy and was part of the crew of LST883, tank carrier, and participated in the Inchon invasion in Korea. George was also the ships baker. After leaving the ship, he was a firefighter in Guam. After the Navy, George went to New York City, staying at the YMCA next to Central Park, to complete classes in photography and tv production. After graduating he returned to Oklahoma and got a job as a camera man at KOTV in Tulsa. George worked his way up to Film Director and retired after 33 years. While there, George met and married Betty Moore. When Betty was paying for her lunch at a dinner, she discovered her purse was stolen and George, who was also eating there, paid for lunch. They married in 1956 and had two sons, Randy and Mike. After retiring from KOTV, he got a job at Binding Stevens nursery, there for 10 years. George's love was plants and he always had beautiful gardens. George and Betty were married for 66 years and made several trips to there favorite place, Hawaii, in their retirement years. George passed in Denison Texas.
George was preceeded in death by wife Betty, son Michael, grandaughter Stephanie, and grandson Shawn. George is survived by his sister Naomi Humble, son and wife Randy and Rita, grandkids Michael, Gary, Mitchell and Nichole, and 11 great grandkids.
