Obituary

Georgiann Lovell transitioned from this life on August 27, 2017. She was born on June 30, 1930 in Tulsa to George Elmer and Pauline Parker Pinkston. She was a graduate of Central High School, subsequently attending the University of Tulsa for a time and enjoying membership in the Kappa Delta Sorority. She worked as a secretary in Tulsa until her marriage to W. B. (Dub) Lovell in 1952.

Georgiann's life-long enthusiasm for donating her time and efforts to benefit others began with high school committees and continued through church, the Navy Wives' Club, and other organizations. After her marriage and upon Dub's becoming an officer in the U.S. Navy, she saw her chief responsibility as supporting her husband in his military career. Living in places as varied as Virginia, Italy, Hawaii, California, Texas, Illinois, and Ohio, she perfected her skills as a hostess, and was Dub's closest friend.

After military retirement, they lived in California and then returned to Tulsa in 1986. As a member of Boston Avenue Methodist, she delivered Meals on Wheels and gave further glory to God through choir. She and Dub became the hosts of family holiday dinners, where the food was always excellent and the hospitality warm.

Georgiann's loving nature can best be summarized by a paragraph from an anniversary poem written to her by Dub:

"When this life has ended and another begun,
If I should be so fortunate as to meet God's only Son,
Forever will I thank Him in phrases loud and free,
Expressing my deep gratitude for the wife God gave to me!"

Georgiann was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, sisters Betty Hill and Patricia Penrose, and nephew Gary Penrose. She leaves here her nephews and nieces, Rob Hill and Valerie Hill of Tulsa; Larry and Jackie Hill of St. Petersburg, FL; Steven and Leslie Penrose of Tulsa and Nicaragua; and Janet and Mark McLeod of Houston, along with numerous and loved great-nephews and nieces. She is also survived by her cousin and sister-of-the-heart, Shirley Smith, and her husband and sons. All will miss this woman of grace, intelligence, and humor.
