Gerald "Jerry" Eddie Salcher, 86, of Tulsa, Oklahoma, passed away on February 20, 2023 surrounded by family.
Jerry was born on November 7, 1936 to Otto Frances Salcher and Oral "Bob" Eddie Falls Salcher in Austin, Texas. He attended McCallum High School where he played basketball and baseball. After graduating in 1954, he went on to study engineering at the University of Texas at Austin.
After graduating in 1959, he served active duty in the Army, after which he worked as Project Engineer at Fredrick Refrigeration, where he met his wife, Billie Dean Musgrove Salcher, whom he married in 1964.
Jerry and Billie lived in Texas and Ohio before moving to Lake Hudson, outside of Pryor, Oklahoma, with their three children, Major Wayne Salcher, Melanie Ann Salcher Burdick, and Gerald Eddie Salcher, Jr. The family enjoyed boating and water skiing on the lake and ski trips to New Mexico and Colorado.
Jerry retired in 2001 as Vice President of Engineering at RAE Corporation, where he spent twenty-five years. After retiring, Jerry and Billie moved to Broken Arrow where he enjoyed playing golf at Forest Ridge Golf Club with family and friends. Jerry also enjoyed watching sports (especially his Texas Longhorns), playing computer games, traveling, and spending time with his grandchildren. Throughout his life, Jerry traveled extensively throughout the United States, including to Hawaii and Alaska, as well as to Austria, England, Scotland, Ireland, Mexico, and Canada with his wife and family.
Jerry was preceded in death by both his parents as well as his brothers and their wives, Otto and Helen Salcher, and George and Doloris Salcher.
Jerry is survived by his wife; three children and their spouses, Major and Ginger Salcher, Melanie and Kevin Burdick, and Jerry Jr. and Jennifer Salcher; three grandchildren, Kelsi Paysse and husband Jonathan, Jordan Moorman and husband Keaton, and McKenzie Salcher; and two great-grandchildren, Gavin and Noah.
A celebration of life will be held on Friday, February 24 at 2pm at the Mason Chapel at Asbury Church.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Cure Alzheimer's Fund.
