Obituary
POTTORFF- Gertrude Ruth (Satterfield), age 100. Born in Tulsa, Oklahoma to George and Emma Satterfield on May 28, 1920. Ruth died early Monday morning, June 8, 2020 at the Vintage Care Clinic in Denton, TX. She is survived by her four sons and daughter, Jim Pottorff and wife Doretta of Tulsa, Judy Shaw and husband Ron of Atlanta, GA, John Pottorff and wife Beth of Argyle, TX, Tim Pottorff and wife Jeralden of Rogers, AR and Tom Pottorff and wife Angela of Tulsa, OK and many, many grandchildren.
Ruth was a long-time resident of Tulsa graduating from Central High School class of 1938. She was married to the love of her life, Woodson John Pottorff, whom she eloped with on September 30, 1938 in Siloam Springs, AR. She was a loving wife to her husband, persevering through WWII and raising her young children until his return. Her love and affection for her husband and kids was always evident. We always knew that she loved us by what she said and what she did.
Ruth loved to paint, especially watercolor. She played the piano from a young age in church and accompanied her husband "Red" in the churches that he pastored and ministered for over 50 years. Her love for Jesus Christ and His word was not just a Sunday showing. She, along with our father, knew that salvation is of the Lord, not by our good works, but only through a gracious God by the offering of His Son on the Cross who died for our sins...the Just for the unjust.
We are sad for the temporary separation as our mother goes to be with the Lord, but the Scriptures speak of a Great Reunion that will take place in the City of Light for the Children of God in a place where there is no death and no sin and joy eternal.
One of our mother's favorite hymns was "Are You Washed in the Blood". Are you fully trusting in His grace this hour? Are you washed in the Blood of the Lamb? Christ says, 'I am the Way, the Truth and the Life, no man cometh unto the Father except by me.'
We love you Mom.
Graveside service will be 10:00 A.M., Friday, June 12, 2020 at Memorial Park Cemetery, 5111 South Memorial Drive, Tulsa, Oklahoma.
