Gina Ann Giffin entered this life on June 6th, 1963, and departed on July 15th, 2023. She was loved by many and will live on forever in the hearts of her family and friends.
Gina was born in Enid, Oklahoma, and was raised by her mother, Barbara Ann, and her father, Jackie Rush. Gina was the eldest of three siblings and usually found herself bossing her two younger brothers around.
Gina attended Skelly Junior High, where she met lifelong friend Shelly Green Foster. She later attended East Central High School, from which she graduated in 1981. Gina then found herself at Northeastern State University, where she met the love of her life, Timothy Kevin Cook. Gina also met a lifelong friend, Lisa Pederson Mitchell. Gina graduated from college with a degree in education. She had a passion for education and spent her entire life doing what she loved most.
After graduating from college, Gina worked at the Holiday Inn and met girlfriend Krista Bauer.
Gina and Tim were married in December of 1982 and built a sustaining life together. They had two wonderful children together, Josh in 1984 and Lindsey in 1985.
Later, in the 1990s, Gina furthered her educational journey by obtaining a master's degree in education from the University of Oklahoma. Gina had a passion for mathematics and spent many years as a math teacher, an administrator, and ultimately a principal, touching the lives of many students and coworkers.
Gina and Tim attended church at Will Rogers with their parents, Asbury, and later LifeChurch with family. This was a weekly event that both Gina and Tim looked forward to. Gina also enjoyed cooking and having family over to their house most weekends.
Gina was preceded in death by her parents, Barbara and Jack Giffin, and her in-laws, Carl and Bee Cook.
Gina is survived by her husband, Tim Cook; her son, Josh Cook, and wife Amy of Bixby; daughter Lindsey DeSirey and husband Mikey of Bixby; brother Rush Giffin and wife Chris of Coweta; and brother Andy Giffin and wife Abby of Bentonville. She is also survived by five grandchildren: Cade Rainwater, Piper Rainwater, Ethan Cook, Olivia Cook, and Grey DeSirey. Gina was an aunt to many, including Maddy Giffin, Auten Giffin, Kimberly Bloomfield, Chandler Hansen, and Alex Giffin.
Gina will be forever loved and remembered by many. In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation be made in memory of Gina Cook to Sequoyah Elementary School through the Foundation for Tulsa Public Schools. Graveside service will be at 10AM, Friday, July 21, 2023 at Memorial Park Cemetery, 5111 South Memorial Drive, Tulsa, Oklahoma. Memorial Service will be 1PM, Saturday, July 22, 2023 at Asbury Church - Mason Chapel, 6767 South Mingo, Tulsa, Oklahoma.
