Gladys Violet Young, 91, of Montgomery County, Independence, KS, passed away Thursday, May 20, 1976, at Doctor's Hospital in Tulsa, OK. She was born on Saturday, April 22, 1905, in Independence, KS, to Charles Almond Dixon and Amanda Jane (Buster) Dixon. Gladys was a former Tulsa, OK, resident from 1933 to 1973. She was also the Treasurer of Tuloma Chapter Order of the Eastern Star, for 11 years. Gladys is survived by her husband, Lewis Lawrence Young of the home in Independence, KS; and brother-in-law, Alfred Raymond Abbott of Independence, KS. She was preceded in death by her parents; her infant son, Dixon Young; her sister, Goldie Marie (Dixon) Abbott; and a lifetime of friends. Gladys will be greatly missed in the days ahead, but her spirit and memories will on within each of us that were privileged to have her in our lives.
