Obituary

Glenn Edward Henderson passed away at his home in Tulsa, on April 3, 2017. Glenn was born in Tonkawa, Oklahoma on November 14, 1935, to Isaac 'John' and Faye Henderson. He spent his early years working the family farm in Eddy and attending school in Tonkawa. He spent summers as a teenager harvesting wheat with his father, John. He graduated from Tonkawa High School in 1953. He moved to Tulsa to attend welding school. In his early 20s he joined the Army Reserves. He was a welder for many years. He made his home in Tulsa, but at heart, he was always the kid from Tonkawa.

Anyone that knew Glenn, knew that he had the 'gift of gab'. This gift served him well. Glenn made a living as a salesman for American Trailer, Fruehauf Trailer and Truk Quip, for many years. Glenn traveled the entire state of Oklahoma during his working career. He knew almost every nook and cranny. He could tell you where every rest stop in Oklahoma was located. He always knew a 'good ole boy' in every town.

Glenn especially loved to bird hunt with his buddies and his son, Mike. Glenn and his wife Joyce enjoyed many weekends and summers at their vacation home, near Cleora at Grand Lake with the family. All of Glenn's children spent good times fishing and boating with their dad. In retirement, Glenn, Joyce and their dogs enjoyed traveling in their RV to the Gulf Coast.

Glenn was a Jack-of-all-trades. He was especially good at construction, mechanics and pretty much anything he set his mind to. He enjoyed reading westerns, war and history novels.

Glenn is survived by Joyce, his wife of 55 years. His oldest daughter Teri (Russ) Stanford, of Auburn, Washington, nephew Kirk (Amanda) Henderson, of Tonkawa, granddaughters- Alyssa Stanford of Seattle, Kaci Henson of Bixby, Amanda Watkins of Glenpool; along with six great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Faye Henderson; brother, Jack Henderson; son, Phillip Henderson; daughter, Lisa Watkins; son, Michael Henderson; and grandson, Jason Cooper.
