Born in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Glenn Don Leslie, 56, passed away following a brief illness. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Edith Leslie.

Glenn is survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Laura Leslie Fairchild and Sam Fairchild; his nephew, Robert Hare; his niece, Katie Hare; his cousin, Lance Kelly, and his wife, Karen; his cousin, Stephanie; and many other cousins. He also leaves behind a beloved church family at First Presbyterian Church, particularly his fellow members of the First Presbyterian Church Choir, who were like family to him.

Born with glaucoma and legally blind throughout his life, Glenn never allowed his limitations to diminish his appreciation for life or his many interests. In his early adulthood, Glenn spent several years volunteering at St. John's Hospital and the Red Cross, giving his time in service to others. For the past 25+ years, he made his home at Murdock Villa, where he lived independently and enjoyed the opportunities provided by The Center for Individuals with Physical Challenges. There, he explored intellectual and creative interests through pottery, art, gardening, exercise classes, and the occasional field trip. He also enjoyed listening to audio books through the Oklahoma Library for the Blind and Physically Handicapped mobile service.

Music was one of Glenn's greatest joys. He was a devoted member of the First Presbyterian Church choir for 25+ years, rarely missing Wednesday rehearsals and Sunday worship. With his birthday falling near Easter, he especially loved the opportunity to celebrate Christ's resurrection through the church's traditional Chancel Choir performances. His love for music was matched by his love for his church family, whose kindness and assistance in bringing him to and from church meant so much to him.

Glenn was known for his grateful heart and his genuine appreciation for the people and experiences in his life. He loved the University of Oklahoma, his sister's alma mater, and was always happy to cheer on the Sooners. He also had a healthy appreciation for good food of just about any kind. When asked if he would like more, his enthusiastic response was invariably, "Oh yes, please!"

Perhaps nothing reflects Glenn's faith and outlook on life more than his response to a cousin who asked how he was doing following his hospitalization in August. Glenn simply replied, "I am being healed by the grace of God."

Those words now take on an even deeper meaning. The beloved hymn Amazing Grace includes the familiar words:

"I once was lost, but now I'm found; Was blind, but now I see."

For Glenn, these words offer a beautiful expression of faith and hope. After a lifetime of living with blindness, Glenn has now been healed by the amazing grace of his Savior. His life was a testament to gratitude, faith, and the joy of music, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

My deepest thanks go to the doctors, nurses, and medical staff whose exceptional care and compassion for Glenn, as well as their kindness and support toward me, were appreciated beyond measure.
