Obituary

Glynis Luann Cook, age 65 of Tulsa, OK, passed away on January 3rd, 2021. She was born to Glen and Della Faye Scantling on October 4th, 1955 in Fort Smith, AR.

Glynis graduated from Arkansas Tech University and became an art teacher, teaching in Waldron and Mansfield, AR, and Jenks and Bixby, OK. She dedicated her entire career to empowering her students to grow creatively. Many of her students loved her and kept in contact throughout the years. She retired from Bixby Public Schools in 2016, after teaching for a total of 38 years.

Although she created artwork in all mediums, Glynis spent her retirement working mostly on the pottery wheel creating a variety of ceramics. She was creative and passionate about her art her entire life.

Among many of her talents, Glynis had a beautiful singing voice. She loved to play her twelve-string guitar and sing to her daughters as they grew up.

Glynis also enjoyed spending time in her garden with her devoted husband, Jim. She could grow anything but her passion was for tomatoes. The garden she and Jim built together became her sanctuary - a beautiful place where her children and grandchildren loved to spend time with her.

Glynis's greatest joy was being a grandmother and her three grandsons loved her dearly. She excelled at spoiling them and loved getting Nana lovin' in return.

Glynis is survived by her husband Jimmy Cook of Tulsa, OK; her daughter Sarah McGehee of Tulsa, OK; her daughter Morgan Middleton of Tulsa, OK; her grandchildren Aiden, Hank, and Del; siblings Russell Scantling of Waldron AR; Joy Ballard of Waldron AR; Donna Scantling of Waldron AR; as well as many other family and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents Glen and Della Faye Scantling of Waldron AR; her sisters Kathy Ann and Terry Donita; and her son-in-law Kent Middleton.
