Obituary

McCune, Gordon A., 87, long-time Tulsa engineer and real estate developer, died Thursday, April 4, 2013. Gordon was born in Tulsa, OK, August 20, 1925, to Malcolm Lloyd and Elizabeth (Goodjohn) McCune.

Gordon was best known for his partnership with brother Murray in the architectural and engineering firm of McCune, McCune & Associates, which designed and built numerous commercial and residential buildings in Tulsa and throughout Oklahoma, including Kendall Hall at Tulsa University, the OU College of Dentistry, and Utica Square. Gordon was a life-long member of First Presbyterian Church where he served as an elder, sang with the Men?s Choir, and was on the Board of Trustees. Gordon served on the Board of the Salvation Army for many years and was its President for two years. Since his retirement he has volunteered with Helping Hand, mentored at Wilson School, and been active in Tulsa Downtown Rotary. In his spare time he painted with watercolors, played golf, sailed on Grand Lake, and he and Anne traveled the world. They spent many happy summers in Santa Fe, NM. He lived in Tulsa all his life, attending Barnard School, Wilson, and Central High School. He then attended the University of Kansas, interrupting his studies to serve with the U.S. Navy at Guantanamo Bay. He rose to be a Lt. Commander in the Navy Reserves. Gordon graduated from KU in 1948 and returned to Tulsa to work with his father and brother. He married Anne Keeton in 1951 and they had three children, Margi, Davis and Kelly.

Gordon is survived by his wife, Anne Blair (Keeton) McCune,
daughter Kelly Miller McCune (Robert Miller) of Pasadena, CA,
son Davis McCune (Sherri McCune) of Dallas, TX,
grandchildren Dr. Loren Malone of Chicago, IL, Dr. Blair Solow (Michael Solow) of Dallas, TX, Isabel Miller, Ivy Miller, Michela,
Francesca, and Sofia McCune and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and daughter, Margaret Blair McCune.

Services: Memorial Service 2 p.m. Monday, April 8, 2013 at First Presbyterian Church. In lieu of flowers, friends may contribute to the Salvation Army and Helping Hand at First Presbyterian Church.
