White, Gordon Eugene, 92 of Tulsa passed away Thursday, December 26, 2013. He was born December 1, 1921 in Parsons, KS to Lee and Helga White. Gordon enjoyed a successful long term career as a metallurgical engineer for Reynolds Aluminum International, where he traveled the world. He was an avid pilot, flew privately and served from 1942 -1945 in the Army Air Corps. He was a distinguished member of the 94th Bomber Group, flew 25 missions over Germany including being shot down in a bomb raid on Schweinfurt, Germany on October 14, 1943,historically referred to as ?Black Thursday?. He was a recipient of the Distinguished Flying Cross. He was a past member of Toastmasters International. He is survived by two children, Marcia Whitten of Sheffield, AL and Timothy Eugene White of Valencia, CA.; 5 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren; step daughters Joy Holbrook and husband Michael of East Haddam, CT, Martha Lynn Hiedeman and husband Dave of Auburn, AL; and sister Charlotte Sizemore of Tulsa. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sisters, June Brooker and Yvonne Temple. In lieu of flowers please make contributions to The Humane Society or Oklahoma Methodist Manor, Tulsa, OK.
