On the morning of Sunday, January 22, 2017, Gujar N. Seshappa Rao passed away suddenly in an automobile accident. He was born in Tumkur district, in the state of Karnataka, India, on October 13, 1931 and was the son of Thukabai and Nagendra Rao. He married Vasantha Bedre on June 10, 1959. Gujar came to the US in 1964 to enroll in the University of Oklahoma in Norman, Oklahoma, where he earned his PhD in Civil Engineering. He was a dedicated educator and taught at a number of universities throughout the country. His passion for education inspired not only his students, but all his children and grandchildren to pursue the highest levels of higher education. After retiring, he followed his children to Tulsa, Oklahoma where he spent most of his time with family and playing with the family dogs. He also enjoyed following cricket and learning about Hindu mythology. He is survived by his wife, son, two daughters, daughter-in-law, son-in-law, and four grandchildren.
