Guss William Jones, Sr., 76, of Tulsa, OK, went to be with his Heavenly Father on Saturday, June 4, 1977, at Doctor's Hospital, Tulsa, OK, after a long illness. He was born in Garland, TX, on Thursday, January 10, 1901, to Charlie Teel Jones and Jennie (West) Jones. Guss was the owner of Whoopee Pest Control. He established his pest control business in Tulsa in 1955, and operated it until he retired in 1967. He was the past President of the Oklahoma Pest Control Association, and had also gone through all of the chairs of the Masonic Lodge, the Akdar Shrine and the Eastern Star. A Tulsan since 1947, Mr. Jones was a member of the Sheridan Avenue Christian Church. He was married to Ollie (Williams) Jones. Guss was survived by his wife; daughter, Mrs. Virginia Luna of Brownsville, TX; 4 sons, Charles K. Jones of Wagoner, OK, Guss William Jones, Jr. of Tulsa, OK, Sam F. Jones of Verdigris, OK, and Herbert M. Jones of Tulsa, OK ; step-son, Douglas Pruitt of San Antonio, TX; 12 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; sister, Cordie Brown of Longview, TX; bother, Ross Jones of Kilgore, TX; and a lifetime of friends. He was preceded in death by his parents. Guss will be greatly missed in the days ahead, but his spirit and memories will live on within each of us, because we were privileged to have him in our lives.
