Gwen Moss McKeeman's Story
Gwendolyn Marie Moss McKeeman was born on February 28, 1926 in Stigler, Oklahoma to Leonard McDonald Moss & Marie Gatlin Moss, their only child. She grew up in Muskogee, OK and graduated from Northeastern State University, in Tahlequah, OK with a Bachelor's degree in Journalism. She met the love of her life "Bob" Robert Lewis McKeeman in Tulsa and they married in Muskogee on March 31, 1951 by Bob's dad, Reverend James A. McKeeman. They raised three children: Pete McKeeman (Ellen), Marianne McKeeman Cravens (Scott) and Scott McKeeman (Mary). Grandchildren are Tim McKeeman (Nicole), Jonathan McKeeman, Riley Cravens, Katie Cravens Lowry (John), Karissa McKeeman LeHew (Drew) and Lexi McKeeman. Great-grandchildren are Logan, Trevor and Lucas McKeeman; Ava and Leia Lowry. Bob and Gwen were married for 59 years when Bob went home to be with the Lord in 2010.
Gwen always had a servant's heart. Early in their marriage, she helped Bob with the family business, Broomtown Industries, which largely employed disabled individuals. In their later years together, Gwen & Bob shared their passion for antique collecting. They rambled across the country "pickin" for treasures which they would then sell at Antique Shows as McKeeman Antiques. She served her family, church, Boy Scouts, Campfire Girls, the Tulsa Cerebral Palsy Association and her Delta Zeta Sorority. She was in her own words "a professional volunteer" and gave her time and energy in many capacities for Delta Zeta in a lifetime of service. Her last and most loved contribution to DZ was as The Lampwriter, editor for the sorority's quarterly magazine, The Lamp of Delta Zeta. Gwen loved their Wire Fox Terriers over the years. She cross-stitched like nobody's business, filling our homes with her works of art. But most of all she loved her family, especially her grand and great-grandkids.
Gwen suffered a debilitating stroke in 2002. At the age of 93, she walked home with Jesus on August 14, 2019. We praise God that Gwen, our Mom/Nana is experiencing everlasting joy in the presence of our Lord and Savior.
"For our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ, who, by the power that enables Him to bring everything under His control, will transform our lowly bodies so that they will be like His glorious body."
Philippians 3:20-21
